Population Debate
In the article Population Debate population debate it talks about the contrast between some countries being encouraged to have children and other to reduce. Countries like Japand and Singapore are under the replacement rate, whereas China and Brazil are above. It talks about how some countries are against family planning becase of religious beliefs. I feel these countries should still allow family planning. Family planning should respect religuous beliefs, and not force them to have small familes if that is against their beliefs. Though I think they should still be educated about their option and have the right to use contraceptive like birth control, or abortion if they choose. The article also talk about how one can't predict the future population by the current population growth because that dosn't take into consideration people intelligence and rational planning. I agree, I think that countries will make an effect to cut down the birth rate, lowering the estimated population. Though I believe despite this, the population will still grow at a rapid rate.
India's Population Control
In the video India's Population Control it talks about India's population control. It shows how the country is in a transitional period towards a lower birth rate. In urban areas, where the more middle class citizens live their are less births. Parents no longer need mass amount of chidren to help out with chorse. Women are also finding more empowerment and being able to work, causeing them to not have enough time to take care of lots of children. They also know have a choice know a days on how many children they want. Though despite this, there are still many woman living in rural areas that are having to many children. But atleast it is a start, and it shows that if we can make a difference in India one of the fastest growing countries, that we can help out other LDN with population control.
Overpopulation; a myth ?
In general this video goes against my views on population growth, those I do agree with the part where he explains how every family could have their own house with a yard and all fit on the land mass of Texas. The problem is that things arn't equally distrubuted. That is the same with are food production, if it was evenly distrubited, no one would go hungry.
In this video it talks about the affect of the growing population. It shows how rapidly the population is growing, and that it is only going rise faster in the next 40 years. It looks at the population and 2025, and from their research 1-3 people will be affected by water shortages, and it will take double our current food producton to deef the the population. Producing this much food will cause even more damage to the enviorment. They bring up the idea of "instead of controlling the enviorment for the benift of the population, maybe we should control the population to ensure the survival of our environment." I believe this is what we need to do on a global scale by using family planning, education and empowerment of women. Though LDN can't do this by theirselves, they need help from developed nations to get it done quickly.
World Population Growth 1750-2150
This image show that a huge majority of the population in the near future is going to be coming from less developed nations. Where developed nation remain fairly stable. This is why developed nations need to start helping LDN, become more developed. If we could get majority of the nations in the more developed range then population would start to stabalize. This picture shows population is going to increase rapidly and we need to figure out a way to stop this growth soon before it get to out of control.
How Global Population Growth is Creating Serious Environmental Problems.

I agree with the article that our worlds rapidly increasing populationis causing a huge impacts on our enviorment, and that if nothing is done to stop this, it will continue to get worse. The damage we are doing is metioned in the article "population growth since 1950 is behind the clearing of 80 percent of rainforest, the loss of tens of thousands of plant and wildlife species, an increase in greenhouse gas emisioss of some 400 percent and the development or commercialization of as much as half of the Earth’s surface land." It is also feared that we may not be able to meet water consumption leveles. After reading the statistic that Americans account for 4% of the populatin yet consume 25% of the resources, I agree that American and all developed nations need to start cutting back. I feel up until recently many people have thought that the world has a phantom carrying capacity and unlimited resources. We have been warmed about the consequences of using up all the resources, but it all seemed to far in the furture to worry about it. Now with the fear of water scarcities, and running out of oil, people are starting to get concerned. Ronald Marks in the article asks "What is the difference in impact between population growth in Third World countries, which are poor, against that in the U.S., where we consume and waste so much more" It is true that developed nations place a lot of blame on LDN for their mass population, while developed nations are probably causing equal damage. Though I feel their is still time to undo some of the damage we have caused. I think it is going to be alot harder to get developed nations to cut back, I dont think its impossible but its going to take a very long time. Instead I think it would be easier to get developed nations to use some of their wealth towards helping LDN. In countries like India, with the help of contraceptive they were able to drastically decrease their birth rate. Many LDN are stuck and without our help won't be able to further develope. Overall I believe the world needs to work together, and we all need to make sacrafices if we want to undo or atleast slow our impact on the world.
